Ode to Queenie 10-21-2009

So my lovely niece is Homecoming Queen of Simpson University. She is truly a queen, inside and out. I wrote her a poem:

ODE TO QUEENIE, 10-21-09

Anna~bu, fair reigning queen of lovely Simpson-town

(But she has sparkled long before she donned the glitt’ring crown).

When Anna walks into a room, she says not “Look at me!” –

But “There you are!” for, truly, loving others is the key.

She has her Maker’s eyes and heart, and kneels before His throne.

She loves her subjects, every one, and no one feels alone.

When Anna steps foot in their midst, a feast begins, anew;

She has a knack of lifting hearts and sharing what is true.

The spice of love and light she trills, to paupers and to kings,

And weary souls detect the tune of hope, each time she sings.

She knows the ancient code of care; and on the course, stays sure,

Disbursing as the High King leads. His message will endure.

A crown and title swiftly pass – a breeze across the face,

But Anna’s quest remains the same: to share God’s loving grace.
